Greener printing

Printing around the corner is green by design

We don’t promise miracles or green stickers. Drukolud’s eco-friendliness comes from how it works: you print at a shop nearby, on a shared machine, only what you actually need.

Three things this model does all by itself

  1. No parcel transport

You collect your prints at a shop that’s on your way – no parcel from a central print plant through a sorting hub and delivery all the way to you. The shortest route for a print is the one you can walk.

  2. Shared printers instead of home ones

One busy printer at a copy shop replaces dozens of home devices that print a few pages a year and then end up as e-waste, together with their unused toners.

  3. Printing on demand

Nothing is printed to stockpile. The print shop prints exactly what you ordered, only once you ordered it – no overproduction, no destroying unsold prints.

What you can do

Two clicks, half the consumption

Print double-sided. One sheet, two pages – half the paper consumption. And since paper is charged per sheet, double-sided printing is also cheaper per page; you’ll see the difference right in the price comparison. For multi-page documents it’s the simplest saving there is.

Choose recycled paper. Selected shops in the network offer it – you’ll find it in the print shop filters and in the print settings when ordering. It’s not a promise for the future, it’s a choice you can make today.

What about certificates? Shops that state they print on FSC-labelled paper carry an “FSC paper” badge next to their name – and you can find them through a filter in the print shop overview too. It’s their own declaration, not our certificate: each shop buys its own paper, so ask them directly for details – their contact is on their page.

FAQ

Being green in practice

Does recycled paper print worse?
Modern recycled papers are practically indistinguishable from standard ones for everyday documents – at most a shade less white. For contracts, lecture notes or drafts it’s a fully-fledged choice.
How much paper does double-sided printing save?
Half. A hundred-page document means 50 sheets instead of 100 – and since paper is charged per sheet, you save money too. You turn on double-sided printing with a single switch when ordering.
Why don’t you have any eco certificate?
Because Drukolud doesn’t print – the independent shops in the network do, and each buys its own paper and energy. We won’t claim credit for other people’s work; instead we give you choices with real impact: printing nearby, double-sided and on recycled paper.
